The Little Prince XR Review: A 45-Minute Walk Through Asteroid B-612 in Hokkaido

The Little Prince has a way of sticking with you. Since 1943, it’s been reimagined again and again across screen and stage. This time, it’s stepping off the page as a location-based experience built around love, responsibility, and the bonds we choose.
But however the story is retold, one thread stays consistent: the little prince learns by moving. He leaves Asteroid B-612 and his rose behind to visit planet after planet. Through brief, sincere encounters with the pilot, the fox, and the lamplighter, he gradually learns how to face love and carry responsibility.
So, from December 12, 2025, to February 28, 2026, this location-based experience inspired by The Little Prince is in Hokkaido (additional locations will appear at later dates). Instead of watching from the sidelines, visitors move through the story themselves. Get a sneak peek at the experience with the trailer below.
The Encounters: Walking the Little Prince’s Path
During its Hokkaido run, this experience is at ES CON FIELD HOKKAIDO in Japan. It’s a location-based entertainment (LBE) experience designed for groups. (ES CON FIELD is also the home field of the Fighters!)
You can explore together, following the little prince’s footsteps through the Sahara, distant planets, and the rose garden. The experience moves through a series of crafted scenes and encounters, letting familiar moments unfold around you.

We were among the first to try it out. What touched us most was seeing those childhood characters appear one by one: the pilot, the king, the drunkard, the geographer, the lamplighter, the little prince himself, and, of course, the fox who taught him the meaning of “taming.” They’re all there, ready for you to approach as the story unfolds.
As you walk, you can peek through the pilot’s bag and find a drawing of the “boa constrictor digesting an elephant.” You can water the slightly wilted rose, or wave a reluctant goodbye to the fox in the golden wheat fields. You can even squat down to pet the little fox and gently tend to the rose up close. It feels present beside you, not like waving at a stiff projection.

Even if you’ve never read The Little Prince, you can still have fun tagging along. You’ll find childlike joy in a playful tug-of-war with the drunkard’s bottle, helping the businessman count endless stars, or applauding the vain man’s performance.
Seeing with the Heart: The Importance of Walking
You’ll notice right away that this experience keeps you moving. It’s framed as roughly 40 to 45 minutes of immersion, and many guests land near 2,000 steps by the end.

In partnership with HTC VIVERSE, Wevr developed The Little Prince: A New Adventure Begins Here as a free-roam, location-based XR adaptation. The choice to make people walk fits the story’s structure. It’s about leaving, moving onward, and meeting others along the way.
The fox’s message is the emotional core: “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly.” This version asks you to practice that idea physically. You walk up to characters, pause to observe, and reach out to interact. The time you spend becomes part of the meaning you take away from the experience.
Wevr has a track record in immersive, story-driven XR. Their work with VIVE Arts on Terracotta Warriors leaned into place, scale, and awe. The Little Prince makes a different choice. It slows the pace, so the “invisible” parts have room to land.

What’s in the Box
We’ll leave one detail for you to discover yourself: what’s waiting inside the famous “sheep” box. It’s a sweet nod to the book, and it lands even better in XR.
Wevr brought on Alberto Vittadello as creative director, and he’s a lifelong fan of The Little Prince. He’s kept the dog-eared copy his mother gave him when he was ten years old. He’s also spoken about how the story changes as you grow. Each reread can unlock new meaning.

That idea shows up throughout the experience. It’s designed as something families can share together, even across generations. Grandparents, parents, and kids may walk through the same scenes, yet leave with different feelings. A child might remember the comfort of petting the fox. An adult might pause and wonder when they last made time for someone like that.
A Hokkaido Debut with a Star Voice Cast
For this limited Hokkaido run, the experience also spotlights a featured seiyuu cast. The little prince is voiced by Daiki Yamashita, and the narrator is voiced by Yuichiro Umehara.

This stop runs through February 28, 2026, so it’s worth planning ahead. If Hokkaido feels too far, don’t worry. Additional locations are planned for later dates. Let us know where you’d like to experience The Little Prince next!
If you can’t wait, you can still get a sneak peek online. The experience has previews on VIVERSE, with teaser worlds you can explore right in your browser. Check out the profile for The Little Prince to find more information about the experience.
